Originally from North Yorkshire, Connor brings his vibrant energy and management skills to The Working Boat as our new Assistant Manager. We sat down with Connor to delve into his journey to Cornwall, his love for Falmouth, and the excitement he brings to his role at our harbourside pub.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

Definitely meeting the variety of people that walk through the door, but especially the dogs that come with them.

Why did you choose Cornwall?

My partner’s parents live down here, so great for our son to be with his grandparents. Plus being here feels like a slice of home sweet home back in North Yorkshire. It’s like getting the best of both worlds!

For people who don’t know Falmouth, where would you say is a must-visit spot?

It’s not so much of a must visit, more of a must do. You’ve got to treat yourself to some fish and chips down at the quay, followed by a bit of mackerel fishing. For me it’s not just about seeing, it’s about doing – and trust me, this is a must-do!

When you’re not at the pub, what do you like to do?

If my partner is reading this, I will say… spending time with her and my amazing son. But the honest answer is in a pub watching the mighty Boro!

What’s your secret skill?

I’ve always been quite good at doing different accents. It’s a skill which my dad has and that I’ve developed by watching comedians and different programmes.

What’s your favourite drink?

Fish and chip or beer and burger?

Growing up near the Yorkshire Riviera of Whitby, Brid and Scarborough, it’s got to be fish and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce! And on Fridays we do a special offer where our classic fish and chips will only cost you £14. Perfect.
