Celebrating our favourite festival: Falmouth Week 2019

Falmouth Week 2019

Well, it’s safe to say that Falmouth Week this year started in a very dramatic way. With high weather warnings and strong storms, the celebrations were slightly delayed at the beginning of the week. But that didn’t stop our festival-goers from celebrating our favourite event of the year! Have a look below at a few of our Falmouth Week 2019 highlights:

Chefs on the Quay

In the middle of the week, we welcomed six local chefs to rustle up a feast night for charity. Each chef took charge of a dish for the six course meal, which were then paired with tasty tipples from our favourite sponsors Sharp’s Brewery. Listening to the electric tunes of Mog Jones, our diners then took part in a charity auction. And we managed to raise over £3000 for Cornwall Air Ambulance and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust!

Live music from talented bands included Falmouth Soul Sensation

Each night we got the chance to dance the night away to some incredibly talented musicians. The week saw performances from The Oggymen, Femmes de la Mer, Tom Baker, Go Go Skank and Patrick Gilbert. We then ended with Falmouth Soul Sensation on Saturday 17th August. Bringing 1960s soul to life, this 14 piece band got everyone moving and shaking to the upbeat classics.

Falmouth Week Fireworks

Illuminating our harbour in an array of colour, the Falmouth Week fireworks put on a show over the pond at Flushing. We had a prime spot on the quayside and pontoons, finishing the celebrations in style this year.

Did somebody say gin?

For the final day of celebrations, we thought there was no better way to celebrate than with gin! Our ‘Gin & Tea by the Sea’ event was the perfect way to close our Falmouth Week marquee. With each ticket holder receiving a keepsake gin glass and discounted gin and tonics all round, our mixologist Yohann also rustled up some fantastic masterclasses so attendees can now create their own gin infusions at home.

See you next year for Falmouth Week 2020
